"He will forever ride with us"

On Monday, April 26th, 2010, Ocean Pines Emergency Medical Services was alerted for an overdose patient on Wharf Court.  While responding, dispatch advised that the patient had set the house on fire.  The box alarm was transmitted bringing Ocean Pines and Showell firefighters to the scene.  Ocean Pines 1100 Paramedic 1 was first to arrive, reporting a 1 1/2 story single family dwelling with smoke showing from all sides.  EMS rapidly loaded the patient and began transport to make room for fire apparatus.  Engine 1101 was the first engine to arrive, stretching a 200 foot 1 3/4" preconnect to the front door.  Captain Billy Bounds arrived and established "Wharf Court Command," immediately requesting an additional engine from Berlin be added to the box for the R.I.T. responsibilities.  Fire conditions quickly deteriorated, causing command to request a 2nd alarm for additional manpower.  The fire was eventually brought under control and units returned to service.  The fire was investigated by the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office.

Units on the Scene: Engine 1101, Engine 1102, Tower 11, 1145, FP 11, Engine 604, Rescue 6, Engine 804, 800 Paramedic 1, WCFMO FM 2.  Thanks also to Ocean City for standing by in Ocean Pines during the fire.
